A spurned lover and his four accomplices kidnapped a girl student of Class 11 from a private hospital at Nihal Singh Wala on Tuesday afternoon.

The victim was admitted to Deep Hospital in a state of shock on Monday night after the accused had trespassed into her house at Patto Heera Singh village on Monday night. Led by the main accused Harwinder Singh, 25, they had threatened her family of dire consequences, if she did not agree to marry Harwinder.

The kidnappers thrashed the girl's parents, snatched a service revolver from the hospital security guard and fled the scene after bundling the girl in a car.

Five people have been booked on a complaint from the girl's father.

Nihal Singh Wala station house officer Jaswarinder Singh, the investigation officer in the case, said "The victims' father has named Jaswinder Singh and his nephew Harwinder Singh as the main accused, though five people were involved in the kidnapping.  A case has been registered against Harwinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh, residents of Patto Heera Singh village, and three unidentified people."

Moga SSP Kamaljeet Singh Dhillon visited Patto Heera Singh village.  "A special investigation team has been formed in the case. Four teams are now conducting raids across the state. The culprits will be nabbed soon."
