However, archrivals People's Party of Punjab president Manpreet Singh Badal and Mahesh Inder Singh Badal, cousin of chief minister Parkash Singh Badal, who contested on Congress ticket against him in the last Vidhan Sabha elections did turn up to cast their votes at a polling booth in native village, Badal.

Sukhbir Badal, who along with his wife and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal is reportedly abroad, failed to visit village during polls, while the chief minister reportedly spent his day at his palatial Balasar farmhouse situated in Sirsa district of Haryana. Around 1,550 votes were polled from the total 2,700 votes at Badal village.
