Four of family killed in Moga mishap

Four people, including a girl aged 1, were killed on Sunday in a road accident at Daulewala village on the Amritsar road near here.

All victims were on a motorcycle when a car ran them over, Karam Singh, assistant sub-inspector of police at Kot-Ise-Khan has confirmed. The victims are Ranjit Singh (30); his wife, Kulwant Kaur (28); daughter, Harmandeep Kaur (1); and mother, Ranjit Kaur (62). They were all from Karyal village.

Ranjit Singh was bringing his family back from Mundi Jamaal village after paying tributes to a departed close relative When near a petrol-filling station at Daulewala, the car hit the motorcycle. Ranjit Singh was killed on the spot, and other members of the family taken to the Kot-Ise-Khan Civil Hospital.

Doctors referred the injured to Dr Mathura Dass Civil Hospital in Moga but they could not make there alive. After autopsy, the family claimed the bodies. The car driver abandoned his vehicle on the accident scene. The police have registered a case against him at Kot-Ise Khan. A hunt for the owner is on.
