Police have arrested two members of an inter-state looter's gang and recovered 10 motorcycles from their possession on Thursday.

Senior superintendent of police Kanwaljeet Singh Dhillon said, "We received a tip-off that some miscreants had entered into the district to steal vehicles from public places. I constituted special teams for nabbing the members of the gang," he said.

SSP added that a party of the special traffic cell barricaded at Moga-Zira road on Thursday morning and stopped three motorcycle riders, who tried to flee from the spot.  A long chase ensued and two of the three accused, Ravinder Singh of village Randiala and Harcharan Singh, residents of Ferozewal, were arrested.

"We have recovered 10 motorcycles from the possession of both arrested people which were stolen from Jalandhar, Moga, Ferozepur, Jagraon and Talwandi Bhai areas," the SSP added.

Investigation officer SI Darshan Singh said that during preliminary investigations, the police found that Gurpreet Singh of Randiala village had managed to flee.

"We also found that the arrested people stole vehicles from various areas across the state as well as Delhi and some parts of Haryana.  A man hunt is on to nab the remaining members of the gang," the IO added.

Both Ravinder Singh and Harcharan Singh were produced in a local court and have been remanded to a day's police custody.
