Harsimrat asks CPI leadership to explain its alliance with Manpreet

Bathinda MP and SAD candidate Harsimrat Kaur Badal, on Thursday, asked the central leadership of Communist Party of India (CPI) to explain how it was in alliance with Congress candidate Manpreet Singh Badal in Bathinda when it did not have a tie-up with the Congress anywhere else in the country.
 
While addressing election meetings in villages of Bhucho (reserve) assembly segment, she said that the CPI central leadership should explain this dichotomy.

"Is CPI central leadership aware that its Punjab unit has arrived at an understanding with Manpreet Badal? Are such understandings with individuals allowed by a national party like the CPI? Does the central leadership know that Manpreet Badal, who had earlier formed a Sanjha Morcha in league with the CPI and a few other parties, is now contesting the Bathinda parliamentary constituency on the symbol of the Congress?" she questioned.

She said it seemed like local elements in the CPI had been "won over" by Manpreet Badal adding the Punjab CPI unit also owed an explanation to the people of Bathinda and Punjab and should explain how it had been "won over" by the PPP chief.

She said the manner in which the Punjab CPI had aligned with Manpreet had put a question mark on the credibility of the entire CPI.
