Image processing workshop held

Punjab Technical University's Giani Zail Singh campus organised a two-day 'Image processing workshop' in association with 'TECHKRITI 13', IIT, Kanpur, and i3 Indya Technologies, Noida, under the guidance of faculty coordinators.

The workshop was inaugurated by head of mechanical department, Charanjit Singh. About 80 participants from various streams of engineering colleges participated in it.

Experts from i3 Indya Technologies, Ashwani and Gaurav, imparted knowledge to students about image processing and its practical applications. Stressing upon the need of organising more such project-oriented workshops for students, campus director Jasbir Singh Hundal appreciated the initiative taken by the faculty coordinators for organising the workshop.

In absence of canal water, tubewells used for irrigating wheat too

It is not only during the paddy season that about 14 lakh tubewells draw out the precious underground water, but it is also during the wheat or non-paddy season that subsoil water has to be used by the farmers to cater to their irrigation needs in the absence of availability of canal water.
