Former MP Jagmeet Singh Brar has thanked railway minister Pawan Kumar Bansal for facilitating the public of Punjab with new trains in the rail budget presented on Tuesday.

He said it's for the first time that a union railway minister had honoured the long-pending demands of Punjab by announcing new lines, including Ferozepur-Patti, double track for Bathinda-Abohar-Sriganganagar and Ferozepur-Bathinda; new trains, including Delhi-Ferozepur Intercity Express (Daily) via Bathinda and Bathinda-Jammu Tawi Express (Weekly) via Patiala, Rajpura, extension of 14731/14732 Delhi-Bathinda Express to Fazilka and 14711/14712 Sriganganagar-Haridwar Express to Rishikesh (Sri Hemkunt Sahib).

Brar said the announcements made by Bansal were long pending demands of the state, but these could not materialise due to several reasons. It would help ensure overall growth of Punjab, he said, adding that people of the neglected border districts were feeling a great joy with these announcements.

Meanwhile, Ferozepur MLA Parminder Singh has expressed gratitude to AICC chief Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi over announcements made in rail budget.
