Man held in murder case

The district police have arrested one person in connection with the murder of a shop owner in Maluka village near here on April 7 night.


SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that Kala Singh, a resident of Maluka village, who is a drug addict, has been arrested for murdering Durga Ram and stealing `10,000 and a mobile phone from his shop.
Bhullar said that the accused had entered the house premises in which the shop is located and was trying to break the lock of the shop when the victim appeared on the scene.

The accused then attacked him and slit his throat with a knife and strangulated him to death. The police have recovered the stolen mobile phone and `5,000 from his possession.
