A 19-year-old resident of Rama Mandi was beaten to death by the father of a minor girl in the same locality on Tuesday night. The accused suspected that Ravinder Kumar, the victim, was having an affair with his minor daughter.

Kumar's mother Santosh Rani alleged that that the accused, Harcharan Singh, called Kumar to his house at around 9pm on Tuesday, by sending his son.

"My son failed to return by midnight. So, I decided to visit Harcharan's house. However, at the house, I saw my son lying in a pool of blood," she alleged.

Kumar was rushed to a government hospital in Talwandi Sabo, but succumbed to injuries on the way.
Investigating officer ASI Kashmir Singh said that the complainant had only told the police that the accused's son had called Kumar. However, he confirmed that prima facie, it appeared that Kumar and the girl were having an affair.

"A case has been registered against Harcharan under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC. He is absconding, but a hunt is on," the ASI added.
