Moga police bust interstate gang of motorcycle thieves busted

Police arrested six members of an interstate gang of motorcycle thieves near Sandhuan Wala village on Sunday morning.


The gang planned to steal motorcycles from the main markets of Moga, Baghapurana, Dharamkot and Badhni Kalan and had sneaked into the district for the express purpose., the police said.

Moga senior superintendent of police Kamaljeet Singh Dhillon said, "When we received a tip-off on the criminals, I formed three special police teams under the supervision of Hardeep Singh in-charge of CIA staff Moga for nabbing the miscreants. Our special teams nabbed six members of vehicle theft at a barricade, 12 km away from district headquarter. The police have also recovered 12 stolen motorcycles from various places across the state from the possession of gang members."

The SSP added that Charath Singh, Samsher Singh residents of Bukanwala Basti (Moga), Kinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Bhag Singh Seaun Singh of Daulewala village; Ramandeep Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Gela Singh of Kot-Ise-Khan had been booked in this connection.

"The gang members had been smuggling the stolen motorcycles to Haryana, Delhi and different parts of the state after changing the number plates. They also prepared fake registrations of the stolen motorcycles. Ramandeep Singh, Gurpreet Singh and Gela Singh mananed to escape, while six others have been arrested," the SSP added.

"Parties have conducted raids for catching gang members from across the state and I hope we will nab them soon. We have received clues on stolen motorcycles from Faridkot, Dharamkot, Kot-Ise-Khan, Moga and other districts," the SSP said.

The accused have been remanded to police custody.
