Heavy vehicles ply unchecked on this road and are a serious threat to the lives and property of residents.

Residents claim that was simply wrong and unwise to use the narrow road meant to connect residential colonies to the city for the movement of heavy vehicles.

Heavy vehicles, including trucks and oil tankers, from Mansa road are diverted on this narrow road to avoid traffic jams and mishaps in the city.

Gurpreet Kaur a research scholar, pursuing Ph D in South and Central Asian Studies from Central University Bathinda and resides in BSNL colony, said:  "I don't know when and why did the administration has ordered the heavy vehicles including Oil tankers, truck laden with goods to ply from this narrow road," she said.

Another resident Babbi, a house wife, said: "We cannot move outside our houses and it is illogical to allowing big vehicles to run on this narrow stretch - not meant for this purpose? Due to heavy traffic the road's condition has deteriorated as pits have developed at many places, making it totally unsafe for two-wheelers."

Navdesh Kumar, a resident of BSNL Colony, claimed that they had been suffering.

"Heavy vehicles were allowed to ply on this road about 18 months ago to reduce the rush on main road. Why should the residents of colonies alongside this road should face the brunt of mismanagement of traffic cops," he said.

Bathinda SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that he will look into the issue and added that the residents will not be made to suffer.
