The Moga district police, in its drive against drugs, narcotics and smugglers, nabbed a man with 40kg poppy husk on Wednesday evening.

SSP Surjit Singh Grewal said on Thursday that a police party during routine patrolling found Joginder Singh of Charik Road with two bags of contraband, waiting for his customers.

Seeing the police, he tried to flee, leaving behind the bags of poppy husk. The police party chased the smuggler and overpowered him. He said a case was registered against him under the NDPS Act.
