Punjab police seize huge quantity of drugs in special drive

Punjab police seized a huge quantity of drugs during a special drive in seven districts of the state in the past four days.


Bathinda zone IGP Paramraj Singh Umranangal said a special drive was launched in Moga, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Faridkot, Muktsar, Bathinda and Mansa from where 191 drug peddlers were arrested by police.

Nearly 183 cases were registered against the accused. Police department also expelled one constable following seizure of drug from his possession, he said.

Police seized 0.50 gm heroin, 0.50 gm smack, 3.75 kg contraband opium, 412 kg poppy husk, 14,586 drug tablets, and 2.47gm intoxicant powder during the raids.
