Seven held with sharp-edged weapons; robbery bid foiled

The police have arrested seven people who were allegedly planning a robbery from near a military area at Landheke village in the district on Monday.

Jasbinder Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Mehna police station, said they had received secret information that some anti-social elements were planning to strike at nearby villages.

"When a police party reached the spot, some of the miscreants tried to flee but we caught them
after a brief chase. We have recovered one Yamaha and one Hero Honda motorcycle, which were stolen from different places. The police have also seized several sharp-edged weapons from them," the SHO added.

He added that the arrested people were identified as Paramjit Singh, Beer Singh both of from Landheke, Harpreet Singh, Sukhwinder Singh, Mandeep Singh, Harpreet Singh, all of Moga, and Harwinder Singh of Sant Nagar.

"A case has been registered against them under Sections 399 and 402 of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigation is on," said the SHO.
