First of its kind special police teams have been formed in the district to trace missing minors.

Of the 32 minors reported missing from Mansa in 2011, the police traced 16 and made safe recoveries in six cases of kidnapping.

Of the 32 minor that went missing in 2012, the police recovered six, and found one to be murdered. Of the seven cases of the kidnapping of minors, they were able to solve six. In one of these cases, the family of a Class-12 boy had even performed his bhog, thinking him to be dead. He had gone missing in May 2012, after four days of joining a new school in Budhlada.

"The family performed the bhog of my son after his motorcycle was recovered from a canal," said Murari Lal, father of the student who was reported missing. "The police had failed to trace him since May 2012."

A few days ago, the Supreme Court pulled up the state governments of Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu over the failure of their chief secretaries to appear in the hearings about missing children.

"The new special police teams will focus on tracing missing minors," said senior superintendent of police Narinder Bhargav. "The teams will work at the subdivisional level, with senior police officers in charge. The teams will file weekly and monthly reports. We have a list of all cases where minors were kidnapped.  Sometimes, children abandon their homes by will."

Mansa deputy commissioner Thind fumes over X-ray that wasn’t
