Train runs over man trying to cross railway line at Makhu

Rahul, 20, a resident of Makhu, was crushed to death by Jammu Tawi Express train (19226), coming from Jalandhar. A provisional store owner, he was reportedly trying to cross the railway line as a shortcut from his local Mission Basti, but fell down. He was taken to an Amritsar hospital, but succumbed to injuries.


The Railway Police Force completed the proceedings under Section 174 (unnatural death) of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) and the body was handed over to the families after postmortem.

Security guard murdered in Sangrur

A 50-year-old security guard of the city-based security agency,Third Eye, was murdered here on Thursday night. The deceased, identified as Avtar Singh of Ubhawal village of the district, was deputed at the main gate of the office of the security agency, when he was attacked with a knife in the chest. The security agency is owned by retired deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Ashok Mohan.
