In a first-of-its kind case in the district, police have arrested two people and recovered synthetic drug ICE worth Rs. 1.25 crore from their possession.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Harmik Singh Deol said that 250 gm ICE had been recovered from the accused Kailash and Chintan, both migrant workers from Uttar Pradesh, in Bhucho Mandi. He claimed that the police had prior information that the two were carrying the drugs and claimed that this was the first recovery of ICE in the district.

The drug is also called a rave party drug as it is used in high-profile parties and other events.

The packet in which the substance is packed bears a 'Made in Thailand'  tag, which indicates the involvement of an international drugs trafficking gang behind its presence in the hands of migrants in a district like Bathinda.

"We are yet to interrogate the accused," said the DSP. Police are also yet to ascertain as if the suppliers of this gang are related to Bhola gang in any way.
