Two held with fake currency in Moga

Police have arrested two people and seized fake Indian currency notes (FICN) with face value Rs. 3.17 lakh at Kothe Rohi Lopo village under Nihal Singh Wala sub-division, 39 km from from here, on Wednesday.

The accused were running a sophisticated racket of printing fake currency. A scanner, computer and a printing machine have also been seized from their possession.

The accused have been identified as Sukhpal Singh, a resident of Saidoke village in Moga, and Ravi Khan, a resident of Mohindergarh in Haryana.

Moga SSP Kamaldeep Singh Dhillon said: "A special police team, led by Satpal Singh, in charge of the PO wing of district police, set up a naka outside the village. The accused, Sukhpal Singh and Ravi Khan, were coming from the Badhni Kalan side on a motorcycle," the SSP added.

"After the duo was nabbed, the police team raided a nearby house and found a number of people printing fake currency. The FICN has been recovered in notes of 1,000."

The absconding accused have been identified as Gian SIngh of Nihal Singh Wala, Sandeep Singh of Ludhiana and Kuldeep Singh of Kotli village in district Kapurthala. A case has been registered against the all five accused.

"Preliminary investigation has shown that fake currency was being sold outside the state. The other members of the inter-state gang will also be nabbed soon," the SSP concluded.
