In the Faridkot case, the three accused youths, two of whom have been arrested, belong to the same village as the victim. Sources said the girl was on her way to her aunt's house when she was kidnapped. She told the police she was forced to consume drugs before the rape and then abandoned near her house on Saturday morning in semi-conscious state.

She was first taken to the civil hospital in Jaitu and then shifted to Guru Gobind Singh Medical College and Hospital, Faridkot, as she was unwell for having consumed drugs. She was discharged and handed over to the parents, said senior superintendent of police Gurpreet Singh Toor, while the main accused, Jagmeet Singh, is admitted to the same Faridkot hospital as he too had consumed excessive drugs.

The other accused arrested is Jagseer Singh, while the third was identified as Chaina. A case has been registered at the Jaitu police station.

In the case from Bathinda's village Badiala, the police have arrested Jaspreet Singh (27) on charges of kidnap and rape, and his cousin Satnam Singh Satta (30) for abduction and criminal conspiracy.

Police said Jaspreet is a married man from Barnala who had befriended the victim by using a fake identity of Prabhjot Singh. He took the girl with him during her school hours on Friday, but the school authorities informed the parents about her absence. When she found that out, the girl instead of returning home stayed at the Barnala bus stand and took a bus to her village the next day when she was found by the village sarpanch on a road. She alleged rape, at which the case was registered.
