It must be a coincidence that on 13 complaints, the local police arrested 13 people on Thursday in 13 cases of drug pedaling in the district. The 13 complainers are all from investigation officers.

The police claimed to have seized 72-kilogram poppy husk in the district from the suspects. The least amount seized is 2-kg from Pannu Singh in the Canal police jurisdiction and the highest, 11 kg, from a man named Aspal Singh in the Rama police jurisdiction.

Two women are among the arrested. The police claim that Jasmel Kaur was caught holding 5-kg poppy husk in Talwandi Sabo and Paramjit Kaur was arrested in Sangat to trace a 10-kg haul.

Apart from the 11 cases of the smuggling of poppy husk, one each was registered for the smuggling of smack and drug powder.
