VB begins raids on tax barriers

The vigilance bureau (VB) has begun raids on the state's entry points to catch corrupt officials who have a hand in the evasion of the tax on various goods.

The bureau, with the help of the excise and taxation department, will conduct this operation on regular basis. "We are encouraged after the success in catching a defaulter's goods vehicle on Tuesday night at the tax-collection barrier of Boha village in Mansa district," VB's chief director, Suresh Arora, said here on Wednesday. "The vehicle had entered the state without paying tax."
