Woman kidnapped, gang-raped

A 23-year-old woman and mother of 3-year-old girl, was kidnapped and allegedly gangraped by seven youths in Amargarh town of the district on Monday night. After the rape, all seven accused dumped the woman at an isolated place near Malerkotla town, where she was found unconscious on Tuesday morning and admitted to government hospital, Amargarh.


A case has been registered against the accused at Amargarh police station. Four accused have been identified as Tanveer, Shakeel, Soni and Dani, resident of Malerkotla, whereas the women has failed to tell the name of three other persons. Two have been arrested.
In her complaint to the police, the victim alleged that four people kidnapped her from the Truck Union Chowk on Monday late night, when she was going to the market to buy some medicines along with her friend.

They took her to a farmhouse near Nisara village, where three people were already present. She was discharged from the hospital after first aid. Gurmeet Singh, DSP, Amargarh, said that Tanveer and Shakeel have been arrested from Malerkotla and search for others is on.
