With an aim to provide better facilities at all government educational institutions, Sangrur deputy commissioner Kumar Rahul on Monday directed the block development panchayat officers (BDPOs) to spend funds granted under the 13th planning commission for the welfare of government schools and anganwari centres in villages across the district.
Chairing a monthly review meeting, the DC instructed the BDPOs to make proper arrangements of safe drinking water, toilets and other infrastructure required in schools and anganwari centres in rural areas.
Meanwhile, he also directed them to take serious note of encroachments on government lands and public places and to take requisite action against the defaulters.
He instructed the executive officers of the municipal council to submit utilisation certificates of grants provided to them under different schemes.
Meanwhile, the DC also pulled officials of the revenue department for not using appropriate stamp papers during land registration.
"It has been found that the revenue department has been facing fiscal loss owing to such lackadaisical attitude of the revenue department officials," he said.
