Four beauty queens from different pockets of the world are sharing a common platform since October 1 to empower women in the best possible manner. They are gratified to 'We for We', a non-governmental organisation (NGO), that brought them together to support its aim for empowering women.
During a press conference held here on Friday evening at a city restaurant, Ripandeep Kaur, chairperson of the organisation, said the campaign schedule ever since its inception had been dotted with various activities such as seminars and conferences on various issues faced by women in which women of different age groups participated and will participate in the coming days. Several villages were also toured by the beauty queens who interacted with many rural women, Kaur said.
Diane Irina Boanca from Romania, global ambassador of 'We for We', said: “Atrocities against women or any discrimination against them can only turn down if we all raise our voice against wrong elements. Every society must understand that a woman holds the power to show the society the right path.”
Miss European Union Carmin Martinez from Malta, Miss Tourism of the Millenium Jennifer Schell de Herrera from Venezula, Miss Heritage World Ecuador Tati Torres from Latin America and Miss Earth Deviyah Daranee from Malaysia expressed that they felt proud to be a part of the campaign.
So far, the campaign has been covered in major cities and towns of the country and will culminate in Goa with a health seminar in October-end.
