Beekeepers' training camp held at PAU

As a part of their monthly tradition, Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) held Progressive Beekeepers' Association (PBKA) training camp on Thursday. As many as 63 beekeepers from different parts of the state participated in the camp.

TS Riar, coordinator of PBKA highlighted the significance of beekeeping. "Honey has high demand across the world and if marketed well, beekeepers can engage in great business," said Riar who later also presented the review of the association activities and camps.

PK Chhuneja, entomology expert emphasised on the management of honey bee diseases. "Every beekeeper must be aware of the symptoms of various diseases. Like humans, bees can also suffer from various diseases and infections including viral, fungal, pesticide poisoning to address a few. On an instant note, cures should start," said Chhuneja.

Balmukund Sharma, executive director, MARKFED, gave tips one marketing of honey.

This camp is a monthly feature of the association and is held on first Wednesday of every month.
