Before HC hearing, doctor couple makes emotional appeal to SIT

A day before hearing in the Punjab and Haryana high court on Saturday, an emotional letter written on the behalf of Dr Rajesh Aggarwal and his wife Deepa, owners of National Kidney Hospital, has arrived with all members of special investigation team who are investigating the scam.

The letter also has a picture of the special child of the couple and a message from the couple that their special child son was on the bed and cannot live without them. The letter reads that special child was undergoing treatment for past few years and needed special care round-the-clock.

The couple has appealed to the members that let the court decide on the petition on Saturday during the hearing.

The sources said that copy of writ petition that consists 230 pages has also been sent to all members.

Moreover, they added that the purpose of sending the letter was just to make an appeal to them to take a lenient approach over the petition when the arguments would start there on Saturday and to delay the case.

One of the investigating members of the SIT said, "The writ petition has arrived just three days ago and we have yet to read whole pages of the petition."

He said that police would try to take some time from the court to file the reply over the notice issued by the court.

Members of the SIT includes DCP Sharma, additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP) (headquarters) Alka Meena, ADCP J Elanchezhian, ADCP-2 Amrik Singh Powar and station house officer (SHO) Navdeep Singh also held a meeting to discuss preparation for filling the reply in the court.

When doctor couple had applied for the bails in the local courts on September 2, they had also made the same appeal in their petition and requested the court to give bail as their special child could not live without them and was on the bed, but the court on September 2 had rejected the bail.

The couple was absconding and had approached the high court on September 14 after the court had issued the notice to the state government over a petition allegedly involved in a kidney racket.

They had challenged Punjab police's move to investigate the case under the Transplantation of Human Organs (TOHO) Act, 1994.

The case
