Senior Supreme Court lawyer Harvinder Singh Phoolka is going to move court for the still unavailable copy of the FIR about the killing of two Sikh protesters during the October 14 police firing at Behbal Kalan in this district.

A villager each from Faridkot’s Niamiwala and Sarawan was killed in the agitation over the sacrilege of Guru Granth Sahib. “Getting a copy of the FIR is legal right of the families of the two victims. Since the report was registered on October 20 and the families still don’t have it, we have decided to move court in Faridkot,” Phoolka said here on Friday.

Law requires any FIR to be put on the police website as well and a copy marked to the area magistrate. The Behbal Kalan report is missing from both places, while a copy of the FIR against the October 14 protesters is online.

“Faridkot lawyer Shivkartar Singh Sekhon and I are going to file an application on Monday. We have the consent of all affected parties, including brothers Rupinder Singh and Jaswinder Singh, who were arrested in the sacrilege case and, later, released,” said Phoolka. Faridkot senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sukhminder Singh Mann was unavailable for comment about the unavailability of the FIR’s copy.
