If you receive a strange phone call from a person claiming himself to be a banker, and stating that his bank will be issuing a new credit card to you, for which he require the details of your previous credit cards — beware of such phone calls, as the city police have registered a similar case against some unidentified persons in this connection.

As per information, a resident, Ashish Nirola, had a few days back received phone calls from allegedly an ICICI bank official, asking about the details of his credit cards for issuing a new credit card to him.

After being convinced by the caller, Nirola furnished the details of his credit cards over phone and later a transaction of Rs 8,133 took place from his account in the name of allegedly an Arya Group.

Nirola immediately sounded police about the unauthorised transaction of the money from his credit card account, and also lodged a complaint in this connection.

Police have registered a case against unidentified persons under section 420 of the Indian Penal Code and the IT Act.

Police said they were investigating into the matter and had sought bank and other details about Arya Group.
