Punjabi Development department of Punjabi university organised 'Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha Memorial Lecture' on Tuesday on the varsity campus.
Former Guru Nanak Dev University vice-chancellor, Prithipal Singh Kapoor, spoke on the occasion. Kapoor highlighted the achievements of Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha and briefed about his life.
He said, "Bhai Sahib was a man of letters, who presented a true picture of Sikh religion and its ideology."
"He faced many hardships in the preparation of Mahan Kosh but completed the project. He was a devoted Sikh and a true Punjabi who worked his entire life for the development of Punjabi language and Sikh traditions," he added.
Vice-chancellor, Punjabi University, Jaspal Singh said, "Punjabi University has emerged as a prime institute worldwide, for the development of Punjabi language, literature and culture."
Jaspal also presented Bhai Kahn Singh Nabha Award to eminent Punjabi scholar Rattan Singh Jaggi.
Head of Punjabi Development, Jasbir Kaur, said the department was publishing the revised and edited version of Mahan Kosh.
"The publication was being translated into Hindi and English by the department," she said. The department presented mementoes and a set of varsity publications to the dignitaries.
