Senior Congress leader and former chief minister Rajinder Kaur Bhattal on Saturday slammed the SAD-BJP government for “diversion of central funds” meant for procurement, saying this proves mala fide intentions of the Badals towards the farming community.

“The Rs 12,000-crore missing food stock scam and candid admission by food and civil supplies minister Adaish Partap Singh Kairon that Rs 800 crore from foodgrain procurement fund were diverted to fund atta -dal scheme is just the tip of the ice berg. This shows the levels this government can stoop to,” Bhattal said in a press statement, demanding probe into diversion of central funds.

Stating that Kairon’s confession on diversion of central funds has exposed the Akalis, Bhattal said: “The Badal administration has been exposed after the RBI asked banks to classify Rs 12,000 crore given to Punjab for foodgrain procurement as bad loans. The state government must come clean on the missing food stocks from go-downs and alleged misuse of central funds.”
