International drug smuggler Jagdish Singh alias Bhola and his aide Sarabjeet Singh alias Saba were produced at a court here on Tuesday in connection with an NDPS Act case registered at the Banur police station on June 15 this year.

Both had been declared proclaimed offenders in the case. The court sent the two to seven days' police remand.

Punjab Police's dismissed DSP, Bhola, and his aide were produced in the court before the duty magistrate (first class) IS Dhillon on Tuesday evening amid tight security.

Prosecution's Ajay Partap Singh Virk demanded 15 days' police remand for Bhola on the basis that he was the kingpin of an international drug racket worth thousands of crores and his interrogation was necessary to unearth the racket involving some high-profile people.

Bhola denied his involvement in the crime saying he should be hanged if found guilty. He also demanded a CBI inquiry into the case.

Banur SHO Vikram Singh, who took Bhola to SAS Nagar for producing him in the court, said Bhola's nexus was spread in many countries, including Canada, the US and Europe, and that the involvement of boxer Vijender Singh was also under the scanner in the case.

Saba is a history sheeter wanted in many cases of kidnapping and extortion in Punjab and Haryana.
