In a tweet that is likely to set tongues wagging in the corridors of power in Haryana, health, sports and youth affairs minister Anil Vij on Tuesday night insinuated that efforts were on to make him change his style of functioning.

Vij, who has set himself apart with his no-nonsense approach in the 100-day-old BJP government, tweeted, “Some people want to stop me from working in my own way, but they will never succeed. I will continue to work in my own style.”

The minister, who usually tweets his pictures, posted the tweet on his Twitter handle @anilvijmla at 9.19 pm. He has not named anyone or given details of the “people” trying to make him change his style of working. Efforts to contact him were not successful as his mobile phone was switched off.

The five-time member of legislative assembly has been in the news due to his run-ins with mandarins, surprise raids at hospitals and sports schools or his missives to the chief secretary, with his intervention in the spat between social welfare and empowerment minister Krishan Kumar Bedi and Kurukshetra chief medical officer Dr Vandana Bhatia being the latest.

While the minister appears to be in no mood to change his way of working, his actions have apparently ruffled the feathers of a section of the party and bureaucracy in the state.
