With the National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducting a polygraph or lie-detector test on Punjab Police officer Salwinder Singh in connection with its probe into the Pathankot terror attack, on Tuesday, a Tanda-based woman Karanjit Kaur, who claims to be the Gurdaspur SP’s wife, has maintained that a lie-detector test on his personal life too would bring out the truth of her marriage to Salwinder.
The woman had previously ‘challenged’ Salwinder to undergo a DNA test, claiming that it would confirm that he was the father of her 16-year-old son.
Karanjit has submitted several documents — including her son Sahilpreet Singh’s birth certificate — to the police in support of her bigamy allegation to the police.
Hoshiarpur SSP Dhanpreet Kaur has been conducting an inquiry in the complaint, after director general of police Suresh Arora — taking note of media reports and Karanjit’s previous complaints — asked the SSP to look into the charges and submit a report.
The SSP said she was ready with an interim report, but the inquiry would be complete only after recording Salwinder’s version.
“Since the officer is in NIA custody, he could not be questioned. Once the inquiry is complete, I will submit a report to the DGP,” the SSP added.
