Bishnoi, Chautala get notices for 'paid news'

punjab Updated: Mar 28, 2014 17:27 IST

Haryana Janhit Congress-BL chief Kuldeep Bishnoi and INLD nominee Dushyant Chautala have been issued notices for alleged publication of 'paid news' in local dailies.

District Election Officer of Hissar, ML Kaushik said in a statement here that the notices have been issued following a report of the media certification and media monitoring committee constituted for monitoring the 'paid news' during the Lok Sabha elections.

He said the committee has issued show cause notices to HJC candidate Kuldeep Bishnoi and INLD candidate Dushyant Chautala for publishing paid news in various newspapers on Monday and Wednesday.

"All the three news items have been found to be paid news at the first look by the committee," he said, adding if the candidates do not reply within 48 hours of issuance of notice, the panel's decision would be considered as final.

"On the basis of the committee's decision, the expenditure incurred on paid news as per DAVP rates would be included in election expenditure of the candidates," he added.
