Putting an end to a long wait, the Bharatiya Janta Party on Wednesday announced the name of presidents of three pending district units.
After a two day meeting with office bearers concluded at Chandigarh, the BJP announced the names and discussed the party's strategy for the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
Dr Subhash Sood, who was working as an acting president due to dispute between Ravi Mahindru and former BJP president Shiv Dyal Chugh, has been nominated as a full-fledged president of Jalandhar (urban).
For Kapurthala, the party has zeroed in on the name of local municipal council Parshottam Passi, while for Mukerian, Iqbal Singh Rana's name has been cleared for the post.
General secretary Tarun Chugh, while talking to HT revealed that, "In the meeting, we have also chalked out the strategy for the forthcoming parliamentary elections. From September 15 onwards, the party would launch 'Ghar Ghar chalo abhiyan' in all the 391 zones of BJP districts."
"For this movement, party had designed a special four-page pamphlet comparing UPA regime with 6-year long Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government. Zone presidents have been instructed to approach each house in the state and elaborate contents of the pamphlet to the owners."
"The party is fully geared up now for the upcoming elections and we intend to finish this campaign within a span of one month," he added.
