BJP candidate for MC elections dies in Pathankot

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Pathankot municipal corporation elections died here on late Thursday evening, following a cardiac arrest, her family said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate for Pathankot municipal corporation elections died here on late Thursday evening, following a cardiac arrest, her family said.

60-year-old Shashi Kala, who was contesting for the upcoming civic bodies polls from ward number 30 on the BJP ticket. When she was on her way to home after election campaigning she suffered heart attack and died.

Returning officer Naresh Mahajan on Friday said he had informed about the death of the candidate to the state election commission.

Elections to six municipal corporations and 122 municipal councils and nagar panchayats in Punjab are scheduled for February 22 and 25.
