BJP councillor booked for sharing advocate's photo on Facebook

The Amritsar city police have booked Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) councillor Prabhjit Singh Rataul on charges of violating the IT Act by posting the picture of an advocate without his consent.

Rataul is already in jail in connection with the assault on advocate Vineet Mahajan and his brother Aneesh.

The case has been registered against Rataul under sections 66-D of the IT Act 2000 at the Civil Lines police station following the complaint of advocate Vineet Mahajan, who has charged Rataul with sharing his photo on Facebook without his consent.

Station house officer (SHO) at the Civil Lines police station inspector Sukhwinder Singh said a case had been registered in this connection and the matter was being investigated.
