The state-level foundation day function of the BJP will be celebrated in Amritsar as 'Sadbhavana Diwas' on April 6.

Punjab BJP chief Kamal Sharma will be the chief guest and he will unfurl the party flag at the district headquarters, Khanna Samarak.

Talking to mediapersons on Saturday, state BJP general secretary Rakesh Rathore, who is incharge of the Majha zone, said besides Sharma all frontline leaders of the party will attend the function. Sharma will also address the party activists on the occasion and outline the agenda of the party for the next Lok Sabha elections as well as the forthcoming elections to Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).

Earlier, Rathore held a meeting of the senior leaders of the party at the district office. Those present included state vice-president Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, state general secretary Tarun Chug, district president Naresh Sharma, secretary Subash Sharma, mayor Bakshi Ram Arora and besides others.

On absence of Sidhu
Asked about the absence of Amritsar MP Navjot Singh Sidhu from his constituency for a rather long period, Rathore said, "I have just taken over my new assignment and will look into the matter. Perhaps next time I may be able to give a concrete answer."

Asked about the strategy for the PRI elections, he said the party will meet soon to chalk out an agenda and also decide on the seats that it will contest in alliance with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

When reminded of the incidents of violence between the SAD and BJP leaders and workers, he said such happenings will be avoided this time. For this, both parties will draw a strategy and it will be followed strictly, he said.

"Differences do occur between the two parties at the lower level due to some local misunderstandings. Otherwise both partners are united," he added.
