Congress candidate from the Mandi Parliamentary constituency Pratibha Singh addressing election rallies in Tatapani and adjoining areas of the Karsog sub-division, said, “Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from top to bottom are misguiding people over issues of corruption, development and welfare,”

“The BJP is contesting issueless elections and to cover up their failure they criticise Congress leaders, who have proven their worth during the last six decades. Himachal was a backward state and neglected part of Punjab prior of its existence. Congress leaders worked hard to develop the state and now the state is considered to be number one in the country with various awards of achievements in the sector of education, health and self reliance,” she stated, adding the BJP’s Gujarat model of development was only a lie and the reality of backwardness of Gujarat’s villages and helplessness of farmers had been exposed by the media in the past.

She added Congress leaders developed road, infrastructure in remote areas of the state and implemented number of welfare schemes for betterment of farmers, women, child, widows and elderly people, while the previous BJP government shut down schools, colleges and construction of roads and other developmental projects as soon as they regained power in 2007.

“After being elected, chief minister Virbhadra Singh resumed all sidelined developmental projects. I have spent `5.46 crore for the development of my parliamentary constituency in just less than eight months,” she claimed.
