Bharatiya Janata Party's booklet "24 mahine 24 Jhoot" on "failures" of two-year rule of Virbhadra Singh led Congress government has raised a political storm in the state. The government has termed the allegations by BJP as "bundle of lies".
"BJP has completely failed to play a role of constructive Opposition," irrigation and public health minister Vidya Stokes, agriculture minister Sujan Singh Pathania, industries minister Mukesh Agnihotri, said in a joint statement.
"BJP is not able to digest the overall and speedy development witnessed during the last two years and are resorting to cheap tactics," the ministers said, adding that BJP leaders always refrained from discussing issues of development. "BJP boycotted the proceedings of the House, which reflected their untoward and irresponsive attitude towards interests of state and its people." They said BJP had no issues against the state government and had come up with a booklet for deriving cheap publicity, but it had proved to be a hollow document, the ministers said.
The ministers added that Virbhadra led state government had adopted party election manifesto as policy document. "Our government from the very first day started to work earnestly for fulfilling all promises made in the manifesto. The Cabinet subcommittee had also been constituted for better implementation of the election manifesto," the ministers claimed, accusing the previous BJP government of playing with the interests of the state.
The ministers, in reaction to BJP's allegations that the government did not mark its two years anniversary as it had nothing to highlight, said, "The Congress government believes in working for welfare of the people and development of the state. It is due to the leadership and experience of Virbhadra that the economy of the state has been strengthened and new milestones of development have been established during the last two years."
