Criticizing the Congress-led UPA government for the hike in diesel prices; the BJP on Saturday staged a protest outside the deputy commissioner's office. A memorandum was submitted to deputy commissioner Rajat Aggarwal to be handed over to president Pranab Mukerjee.
District BJP chief Anand Sharma led the march and raised slogans against the UPA government. The BJP's memorandum stated: "The common man has already been reeling under the pressure of inflation. The recent decisions of petrol price hike and the restriction on LPG have broken the common man's backbone."
The BJP said that this hike must be withdrawn immediately while keeping in mind the interest of common man.
"We fail to understand that what kind of economic policies this government is following. All they have given to the people during its term has been inflation and more inflation. If the Government can't provide basics such as LPG, then it must step down," said Anand Sharma.
