Hitting out at the 'Run of Unity' campaign led by his Gujarat counterpart and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi, chief minister Virbhadra Singh said a few forces were trying to mislead the people in the name of Vallabhbhai Patel for fulfilling their political motives.

"Congress always worked hard for maintaining the unity and integrity of the country, but it is unfortunate at teh way BJP's handling the situation," said teh CM while addressing a public meeting at Tihri, Jawalamukhi assembly constituency, in Kangra district.

"BJP is indulging in cheap politics in the name of the first home minister," said Virbhadra.
He said that the BJP had earlier played with the sentiments of the people when it came to the construction of Ram Temple. "Now, it is misleading them in the name of Sardar Patel, which clearly indicates that the BJP had no concern for the common people; it only believes in show off," he said.
Meanwhile, the CM laid the foundation stone of a primary health centre building and residential complex at Tihri which would be constructed at a cost of `1.31 crore. He also laid the foundation of a government school in Tihri.

Meanwhile, the CM later spoke abut the initiatives taken by teh state government for "the overall development of the state".
