For keeping a check on duplication of votes, the Election Commission of India has ordered to link elector's photo identity card (EPIC) with Aadhaar cards.

For this, all Booth Level Officers (BLO) of Ludhiana district will organise special camps at all polling booths on April 12, where they will update details such as Aadhaar card number, mobile number and email addresses of the voters.

Khanna additional deputy commissioner Ajay Sood on Friday convened a meeting of all political parties and urged them to help and assist district administration in this regard. Sood informed that main aim of linking Aadhaar card with EPIC was to keep a tab on duplication of votes.

Sood informed that if any person was having more than one vote in any area of the district, the voter can get it deleted by filling form number 7. “If any voter wants to make any correction, he can fill form number 8, and to get the vote transferred to some other address, form number 8 A can be filled,” Sood said.

Sood said, “To get EPIC linked with Aadhaar card, voters can contact at toll free number 1950. One will have to provide Aadhaar card number as well as EPIC number. If the voter wants to submit his Aadhaar card by SMS, then one has to type, ECILINK <SPACE> EPICNUMBER <SPACE> AADHAAR NUMBER and send it to 51969.
The voter can also log in to Election Commission of India website, or at <>. for further information.

The ADC has appealed to all voters of Ludhiana district to visit the polling booths on April 12 and get their information updated between 10am to 5pm.

Appealing the representatives of political parties, the ADC informed that as per the activity schedule issued by Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, for updating Aadhaar card numbers, mobile numbers and email ID's, the BLO's will carry a door-to-door survey from April 12 to May 31.
