Coinciding with the inauguration of the memorial to Operation Bluestar, a board has been put up in the 'parikrama' of the Golden Temple, a couple of yards away from the octagonal structure near the 'nishan sahibs'.

The history of the army operation on the board cast in aluminium has been written in Hindi, English and Punjabi. Similar other boards dot the 'parikrama' of the Harmandar Sahib, including the ones near Baba Buddha 'beri', 'Dukbhanjani beri' and few other places to enlighten visitors on the historical significance of these sacred spots in Sikh history.

A senior official of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), which got the board installed, justified the move to say that information on 'Operation Bluestar' was given in history books and even non-Sikhs were aware of it.

"We have not misquoted history; only facts are there on the board. Facts of history cannot remain under the wraps," the official added.
