Abducted from his aunt’s house in Bhagpur village, a four-year-old boy Sameer alias Bulbul was found dead in the village pond on Sunday. The Koomkalan police have sent the body to civil hospital for postmortem examination.

A case of abduction was registered against unidentified accused on July 10 in this context at the Koomkalan police station, following a statement of victim’s aunt Renu.

ASI Davinder Singh, who is investigating the case, said victim’s parents work and live in a factory at the Machhiwara Kohara Road.

Hailing from Bihar, Uday Kumar, victim’s father, had gone to his village a few days back. In absence of her husband, Ranjeeta, victim’s mother had left him with her sister Renu, who lives in Bhagpur. Construction work is on at Renu’s house.

In her complaint, Renu had stated that Sameer used to play with labourers constructing their house. On June 10, Sameer went missing under suspicious circumstances.

After searching on their own, she filed a complaint with the police. On Sunday, they found Sameer’s body floating in the pond. The ASI said the police would take appropriate action after going through the postmortem examination report.
