Body of drowned youth fished out from Sidhwan canal

The body of the youth who drowned on Sunday was fished out in the wee hours of Tuesday. Rajan Pratap Singh (26) of Model Town was cremated at Model Town Extension crematorium on Tuesday noon.


Rajan Pratap drowned in the Sidhwan Canal on Sunday evening along with his friend Sukhmani Singh and others. Sukhmani along with three were rescued while Rajan Pratap was not lucky and he drowned.

According to inspector Satinder Pal Singh, SHO Haibowal police station, the body was found 20 km away from the point where the car drowned at 4 am. The body was lying hooked in the channels. We fished out the dead body and informed the family. A gold chain, purse and other belongings of Rajan Pratap were also recovered.

Inspector Singh added according to the information collected Sukhmani Singh was driving the car. The car was over speeding and the driver lost control over that lead to the accident. Rajan Pratap has two sisters. He had joined his family business after finishing his education.
