The Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday seized 4kg heroin worth Rs 20 crore in the international market in the Khem Karan sector of Tarn Taran district.
Giving details of the seizure, BSF Commandant (191 Battalion) VP Singh said a BSF 'naka' party noticed two persons trying to sneak into Indian territory from the Pakistan side. They were heading towards the fence when they were challenged by BSF jawans, who later opened fire.
The intruders fled the spot. Later, on search of the area between the fence and the international border, BSF jawans picked-up four packets of heroin, weighing one kg each.
Meanwhile the Tarn Taran police claimed to have recovered 30 gm heroin from the possession of Pal Singh of village Rani Valah under the Chola Sahib police station. The alleged accused was arrested and booked under the NDPS Act.
