Brother, accomplice booked for snatching Rs 25 lakh from NRI man

After over a month-long inquiry, the NRI police station have booked a man and his accomplice for allegedly snatching Rs 25.12 lakh from his NRI brother.

A case under sections 382 (theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of the theft) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy) has been registered against the accused, Akhtiar Singh, and his accomplice Rajdeep Kaur of Chhabra Colony.

NRI Avtar Singh, who is settled in New York, US, had filed a complaint to the police commissioner in first week of August. Thereafter, the police commissioner had marked an inquiry to sub-inspector Rajesh Thakur, SHO, NRI police station.

In his complaint, the NRI said he owned a plot in Atam Nagar, in which his brother Akhtiar was a stake holder.

His brother had called him to Ludhiana on the pretext of sale of the plot to one Vikas Kumar.

Avtar alleged that the buyer of the plot had handed him Rs 25.12 lakh in cash against the deal at a farm house in Chhabra Colony in the presence of his brother Akhtiar and Rajdeep Kaur.

He alleged that when he was about to leave the place with the money, Akhtiar and Rajdeep intercepted him, thrashed him and snatched the bag containing cash from his hand.

The SHO at NRI police station, said the police had launched a manhunt to arrest the accused.
