The Border Security Force (BSF) has nabbed one of its own constables who had allegedly ‘compromised’ to make way for a consignment from across the border a couple of months ago.
During the search, some cash, Pakistani SIM cards and four mobile phones were recovered from the constable, identified as Suresh Kumar.
Talking to HT, BSF DIG MF Farooqui said, “There was an input that constable Suresh Kumar, who was posted at Mahwa a couple of months ago had ‘compromised’ to make way for a consignment. Tarn Taran police had also got a tip-off in this regard.”
He said, “As we started a probe, the information was slowly developed and the suspect constable was zeroed in”.
The DIG said that belongings of constable Suresh Kumar were searched and the BSF troops found ? 85,000 cash, four mobile phones, including one Pakistani set, two Pakistani SIM cards and some papers of a property.
“It was also learnt that the suspect had used the Pakistani SIM card when the consignment was allegedly made to cross the border,” he added.
The constable hails from Meerut and has 24 years of service in the force. He was currently posted in the area of border out-post (BOP) Chhina Bidhi Chand.
DIG Farooqui said, “Till now the constable is in our custody and we will hand him over to the police after questioning.
