A Pakistani intruder was shot dead by Border Security Force (BSF) personnel on the international border here on Monday night.
Sources said jawans of BSF's 87 Battalion noticed some movement near a border outpost around 11 pm. Later, they found three persons moving towards the Indian territory. "They were told to stop, but they didn't respond to the warning following which the BSF men opened fire at them. While one of them was hit by a bullet, the others managed to flee," said sources.
Later, the BSF found a Pakistani mobile with a SIM card during a search of the body. BSF's Ferozepur deputy inspector general of police (DIG) RK Thapa said a photograph of the deceased has been given to their Pakistani counterparts and if they did not claim the body within 48 hours, it would be cremated as per Islamic rituals.
